News broke earlier today that Theo Epstein would step down as Chicago cubs President of Baseball Operations. This marks the end of an era that saw the first championship for the Cubs in 108 years.
He resigned from the Boston Red Sox in 2011, and joined the Cubs organization that same year. That year in 2011, the Chicago Cubs won 71 games and lost 91, it took just 5 years before winning the World Series with them. Fans should not be upset or mad at Theo for moving on for his “third chapter”. Theo is a winner and knows what it took to win a championship. He brought the community together, and gave them a memory that will last them a lifetime.
Notable Moves with the Cubs:
Traded for Anthony Rizzo
Traded for Jake Arrieta
Signed Jon Lester
Drafted Kris Bryant
Traded for Aroldis Chapman
Traded for Dexter Fowler
Traded for Kyle Hendricks and Christian Villuneva
Drafted Kyle Schwarber
Hired Joe Maddon
Signed Ben Zobrist
Thank you Theo Epstein, for bringing a championship to the Cubs, and ending the longest championship drought in major North American sports history. We were all Cub fans during that 2016 World Series.
