One of the Greatest Moments of My Career
After 20 years, Bill Belichick says that resigning from the Jets was one of his greatest moments in his career.

After just one day as the head coach of the New York Jets, Bill Belichick wrote down on a napkin the now infamous phrase, "I resign as HC of the NYJ". In my opinion, this napkin that Belichick wrote on became a curse to the Jets that still haunts them to this day (6 different Head Coaches in 20 years).
This past week, his Patriots defeated the Jets with time expiring to improve to 3-5 on the season. On Tuesday, he was asked about that decision to resign as head coach in 2000, he said it was a defining moment. He went on to say the situation in New York was bad, and that it wasn't a situation he wanted to be apart of, so he left. He appreciates what Robert Kraft has done for him, and what he gave up in a trade to get him from the Jets.
Since coming over to the Patriots he has endured one losing season in 2000, when they went 5-11; with an overall record of 237-83 in 20 seasons. He went on to win his first Super Bowl as a head coach the following season, with a certain 6th round Quarterback from Michigan. During his tenured with the Patriots, Belichick has won 17 Divisional titles, 9 AFC Championships, 6 Super Bowl Trophies. While he has run into legal trouble with the SpyGate and Deflategate, he has proven time and time again, that those had no impact on his winning culture in Massachusetts.
Records Bill Belichick holds:
Most Super Bowl Wins: 6
Most Super Bowl Appearances: 9
Most NFL Championships: 6
Most Playoff Wins: 31
As Head Coach:
6-time Super Bowl Champion: XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIX, LI, LIII
3x AP NFL Coach of the Year: 2003, 2007, 2010
First-team NFL's 2000 All-Decade Team
NFL's 2010's All-Decade Team
NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team
He is also 3rd on most wins of all-time as a head coach, with 276 wins and counting.

He is not done yet, now he out to prove he can win without Brady, who helped him win six Super Bowls.
